established new cities which attracted migrants and stimulated trade and communication.
The problem is they were foreigners (used-to-be Macedonians), so native Persians really didn't like them. Eventually, Persian Satraps either straight-up rebelled against them or began to organize themselves more independently.
Great time for trade, bad time for Zoroastrianism. The Seleucids didn't necessarily support Alexander of Macedon's killing of Zoroastrian priests (magi), but they weren't against it, and refrained from portraying the religion at all. This was later used against them by the Parthians.
