Ehud (may 26, 1316 BC – dec 20, 1237 BC)

Description:

Judges 3:12-30

After the death of Othniel, the Israelite's came under the oppression of Eglon, the king of Moab, who forced them to pay an annual tribute for 18 years.

Ehud was from the tribe of Benjamin. He was sent by the Israelite's under the guise of paying the tribute, but he concealed a dagger on his right side. His left-handedness gave him a distinct advantage since it was uncommon to hide a dagger on the right side. After gaining private access to Eglon's quarters, Ehud stabbed the king to death and escaped. He later led an army back to Moab, overpowering the Moabites, securing peace with the Moabites for 80 years.

Ehud was judge over Israel for ~80 years.
