Description:
Joshua 15:16-17; Judges 3:7-11
Othniel was the son-in-law/nephew of Caleb (the spy); he was married to Aksah, Caleb's daughter. He was from the tribe of Judah.
For 8 years, the Israelites were under the oppression of Cushan-Rishathaim, king of Aram Naharaim. Othniel rose up and defeated the Aramites, securing peace and independece for the nation.
He judged for ~40 years until his death, after which the Israelites fall to Eglon, king of Moab.
