Description:

Russia vs Britain, Turkey (Ottoman), Sardinia.

War caused by R’s threat to multiple Euro interests with its pressure of Turkey. After demanding R evacuation of Danubian Principalities, B and F forces laid siege to Sevastopol in 1854. Campaign lasted for a year, with Battle of Balaclava and its “Charge of the Light Brigade” among famous battles. Facing mounting losses and increased resistance from Austria, R agreed to terms of 1856 Treaty of Paris. Crimean War reshaped Europe’s power structure. → Treaty of Paris (integrity of Ottoman Empire and Russia cede Bessarabia)
