Description:
Communist North Vietnam and Viet Cong (backed by USSR and allies) v.s. South Vietnam (backed by US).North Vietnam wanted to unify the entire country under communism.
JFK thought that if one nation fell to communism there would be a domino effect, but Americans were divided.
Nixon pulled US troops out in 1973, and the North seized the South.
