Description:
The CCP (Chinese Communist Party) goes through tumultuous changes with no strong leadership, however the country experiences a shift towards more liberalism.Up to 1 million students demonstrated in Tiananmen square for the freedom of speech and press, democracy, and economic reforms.
China enacts martial law and cracks down on protestors, and the death toll goes to hundreds of thousands.
The US temporarily responded with sanctions.
