South Korea (originally under allied occupation) v.s. North Korea (originally under USSR occupation)June 15th, 1950, North Korean forces invaded South Korea which caused South Korea to reach out to The United Nations for assistance.
UN security council approved a resolution condemning the invasion of South Korea - sent air and sea aid (heavily supported by U.S & led by Douglas MacArthur)
Proxy war between communist China & USSR and U.S
War ended in a stalemate after 3 years of fighting with the border between North and South Korea near where it had been at the start of the war.
