Description:

The King Assassination Riots, also known as the Holy Week Uprising, was a wave of civil disorder that sewpt across the United States of America after the death of Martin Luther King Jr. Riots took place in over 100 cities across the United States of America including Washington D.C., Chicago, Baltimore, Kansas City, Detroit, New York City, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Trenton, Louisville, and many other cities. Some ways people rioted were by looting and arson. During the riots, 43 people died, more than 3,000 were injured, and more than 20,000 people were arrested. Although Martin Luther King Jr. had promoted nonviolence, the riots after his death were violent, although there weren't as many casulities compared to the previous summer of rioting due to new procedures and orders not to fire on looters. Most of the protesters were African American. Just in Washington D.C., the cost of the damage was $27 million.
