Count Henri De Boulainvilliers
1658-1722 (jan 1, 1668 – jan 1, 1722)
Description:
"He split educated opinion and political thinkers in France into two camps- the Germanists and the Romanists - and opened a breach which has not yet been healed between the partisans of the two "races" that stand for divergent ideals" pg. 18
All political freedom comes from the Germanic (Frankish) strain.
"Louis XIV's absolute monarchy, based on the Roman idea of the imperium, was a government fit only for slaves. Boulainvilliers wanted the nobles of his day to revolt against slavis institutions and restore the aristocratic freedom of the German Forest" pg. 18
