Description:

A reawakening of Protestantism. Increased religion in America. Burned over district refers to New York where religious fervor was high. Ministers and preachers went around the country preaching. New religions emerged such as Mormonism. They defined freedom as self-discipline and self-control. This led to prohibition and similar reform movements.
