Naval Battle of Guadalcanal (nov 12, 1942 – nov 15, 1942)
Description:
The naval battle of Guadalcanal was a battle that left the United States in a very important position to win the overall island. It was a battle where it was the United States first against Japan the Japanese trying to destroy the United States transports towards Guadalcanal. After this battle is over it left the United States in a favorable position in the overall battle. It included United States destroyers and cruisers going up against Japanese ships to protect United States Cruisers and supplies. There were a lot of close-range firings between both ships and it included the only two flag officers killed in the Entire World War II for the United States. This battle allowed the United States to conclude an amphibious assault on Guadalcanal and was very important because it left the United States in a very favorable position to win the island and knock the Japanese out of Guadalcanal which if the Japanese took over the island it provided a threat to other United States bases and put their entire Pacific presents at risk.
