Description:
Fought between Britain and the 2 Boer republics (Transvaal and Orange Free State). Chamberlain (Colonial Secretary) wanted Uitlander rights, believed Boer independence undermined British control. Talks of a united South Africa. Transvaal was rich with gold. Britain won, Boer republics absorbed into British Empire with the Treaty of Vereeniging (1902).
