Jean Jacques Rousseau (jan 1, 1712 – jan 1, 1778)
Description:
As a Frenchman who was born in Switzerland, Rousseau was able to experience the differences of society including religion, partying, and formality, giving him different perspectives on things. Rousseau became a writer, and one of his main topics was how society can corrupt you. He said that the constant peer pressure and mindset to conform contaminates our original, innocent soul. Rousseau was also very invested in spending time with nature, and getting educated. After seeing how Native American society was, and how happy they were with just the basic necessities, simple entertainment, and time with nature, he came to realize that people didn't need lavish things to be happy; they should just live naturally.
