Freedom is built (may 11, 1855 – apr 30, 1858)
Description:
Thomas Crawford is hired to build the statue;
While living in Rome, Crawford makes three maquettes;
Freedom III is approved and starts construction;
In 1958, Crawford dies mysteriously and his body is nowhere to be found;
He was last recorded alive on his daughters (Nina Crawford's) diary on 10 April 1958;
Nina's mom cries to authorities "She has his eyes!";
On the 16th of April Nina runs out of the house to the Monarca;
Nina hides in some boxes containing Freedom III;
Nina "feels" her fathers spirit in Freedom;
While at sea the statue assembles itself and kidnaps Nina. The Monarca has to make a stop at Gibraltar to fix holes in it's hull. The crates are empty;
Freedom makes a perfect cut through trees up the Rock of Gibraltar, taking Nina to a cave up top;
There, the model stands still, wearing the remains of Nina;
At the port, a violent conflict with Freedom leads to the death of some sailors. In the end the statue is covered in human skin, a "tall wounded woman". The skin is removed. "Freedom stood motionless. Freedom, stood still.";
