Cesare Beccaria (jan 1, 1738 – jan 1, 1794)

Description:

Cesare Beccaria was what we would call a Criminal RIghts Activist. He was against the death penalty and thought it was unfair. HIs main idea was that people should be innocent until proven guilty. Beccaria also said that the punishment should be dependent on the crime. He put all of his ideas in a book called 'On Crimes and Punishments'.
