French occupation of the Ruhr (jan 11, 1923 – aug 25, 1925)

Description:

When Germany announced they could not pay the reparations of the TOV, 60,000 French and Belgian soldiers invaded the Ruhr industrial region to take what they were 'owed'. The workers were told to use passive resistance against the soldiers, to which they responded by expelling 150,000 workers, and killing 132. The government had to start paying the workers of the Ruhr and eventually started losing mass amounts of money.
