Description:
From 1833 to 1835, he served as Mexico's president four times before becoming a military-backed dictator. Although disgraced after the Texas Revolution, Santa Anna staged a political resurrection and served as president seven more times between 1839 and 1855.Santa Anna was the most powerful man in Mexico until he sold millions of acres of land, known as the Gadsden Purchase (Antonio), to the United States in 1853 (People). This united opposition against him which had him exiled. But, he was allowed to return shortly before his death in 1876
