Thoman Jefferson (apr 13, 1743 – jul 4, 1826)

Description:

Thomas Jefferson was an Englishman born in the colonies who inherited a quarter of his father's plantation after his death. He was heavily influenced by Thomas Paine, Baron de Montesquieu, John Locke, Isaac Newton, and Sir Francis Bacon, and wrote the Declaration of Independence as a statement against the English king, King George III. He was an ambassador to the French during the American Revolution and although he disliked the idea of owning slaves, he still had them as a result of his father's plantation already having them.
