- between these two years the population of slaves being brought to the sugar plantations was 10,000 annually now it is 20,000 slaves.- By the end of the 19th century 12-15 million slaves had been brought across the Atlantic
- 50% were taken to the West indies
- 45% were taken to Brazil
- 5% were taken to North America
