Description:
The Battle of Wuhan was both the longest and most important battle of the beginning stages of the Second Sino-Japanese War. It lasted over four months and there were heavy casualties, going up to 540,000 deaths from both sides.Wuhan was an important because it was China’s second largest city, with 1.5 million people, and it was a major transportation point for troops to move from the southern ports to inland China. Although Japanese forces won and captured Wuhan, they suffered many losses.
