Plague of Justinian (jan 1, 541 – jan 1, 549)
Description:
Eight-year period which saw the first major outbreak of plague in the Old World, affecting Europe, the Middle-East, and the Mediterranean. It seriously affected the Byzantine Empire and Sassanian Empire in particular. Justinian himself was infected and was almost taken by the disease, but he miraculously recovered.
