The Byzantine Empire (jan 1, 330 – jan 1, 1453)

Description:

Significant largely because of its trade relations with other nations. The byzantine empire began as the ends of western Rome, but became the only classical empire to survive into the post classical era. Byzantine goods were seen as high quality throughout the region, and they introduced writing, Christianity, law, and politics. Also important is the idea of caesaropapism, or the idea of a ruler who is a religious figure.
