Description:
Pivotal war over control of Crimea and surrounding provinces in which Great Britain stopped Russia advances as the Ottoman empire collapsed. Horribly disorganized and deadly war (250,000 died) that ended the Concert of Europe and created new instabilities that allowed Italian and German unification campaigns to succeed. (1854-1856)
