r. Bismarck (mar 21, 1871 – mar 20, 1890)
Description:
Count Otto von Bismarck was a Prussian politician and later the chancellor of Germany who masterminded the unification of Germany and successfully increased its power. Bismarck was a master of Realpolitik, political practice based on a careful calculation of real-world conditions rather than ethical ideas or ideological assumptions. He was born into the landowning aristocracy and had a strong personality and an unbounded desire for power yet kept his options open (for his specific actions, see "German Unification" and "Age of Imperialism").
