Taft Presidency (mar 10, 1909 – mar 6, 1913)

Description:

He was daft.

Roosevelt (TR) endorsed Taft and helped him win. But whoops, it turns out that he actually had very different beliefs than TR (which pisses him off).

Taft's policies:
- Dollar Diplomacy.
- Oversee investment; Taft preferred to send $ rather than troops. He wanted to start American companies in Latin Amer, to create jobs and gain public support. Taft hoped to not be involved in wars, but he had to send the military quite a bit. He loaned $ to Latin Amer countries to pay off debts to Europe (monroe doc, roosevelt coll). Latin Amer then owed US (Taft wanted them to protect canal).
