Qajar Dynasty (jan 1, 1779 – jan 1, 1925)
Description:
Agha Mohammad Khan was the chieftan of the Qajar tribe, which took control of Iran after the fall of the Safavid Dynasty. This dynasty enhanced the autonomy of the clergy, as Shi'a Islam and Iran's government became more and more intertwined. On top of this, life was very hierarchal and corrupt during this time and Russia and Britain began to compete over control over Iran.
