r. Leonid Brezhnev (jan 1, 1964 – jan 1, 1982)
Description:
Under Brezhnev's rule, the USSR entered a period of limited re-Stalinization and economic stagnation. His rule was oppressive and boring. Shortly after Prague Spring, Brezhnev announced the Brezhnev Doctrine, under which the Soviet Union and its allies had the right to intervene militarily in any East Bloc country whenever they thought doing so was necessary to preserve Communist rule.
