UFW Movement (jan 1, 1965 – jan 1, 1970)

Description:

Labor union founded by Cesar Chavez Dolores Huerta hoping to advocated for the rights of farmworkers in the U.S. The was a long history of mistreatment and poor working conditions for immigrant workers in the U.S. especially in the agriculture field and this strike brought attention to it. It consisted of nonviolent boycotts, strikes, and protests to advocate for better wages and improved working conditions. This was a success and the working quality of farmworkers in the US improved and at the same time it helped create a sense of pride for the Chicanx culture/identity and unity amongst the community.
