East LA Walkout/East LA Blowouts (mar 1, 1968 – mar 8, 1968)

Description:

It was a form of resistance from the students in East LA as they had enough of enduring discrimination, poor education, and cultural detachment/erasure provided by the Los Angeles Unified School District. This form of protest brought attention to the systemic injustices the Chicano community faced. It was successful and brought reforms to school curriculums and education policies which represented Mexican American experiences in the U.S.
