Berlin Blockade and Airlift (jun 24, 1948 – may 12, 1949)

Description:

This started when the Soviet Union made a move to block rail, road, and water to places in Berlin under the Ally powers. To counter this, the United States and Great Britain airlifted food and fuel to the people there. More than 277,000 flights delivered about 2.34 million tons of food and other vital supplies. At the height of the operation, one plane would land every 30 seconds.
