Giuseppe Verdi (Italy) (jan 1, 1813 – jan 1, 1901)
Description:
Verdi received formal musical training in Italy throughout his youth, and was denied admission to the Milan conservatory (later named after him). He had a successful stint as an opera composer and supervisor, and used the finances to build a hospital and retirement home for musicians. His Requiem is his most famous non-operatic work.
