futurism (jan 1, 1909 – jan 1, 1920)
Description:
The Italian art movement known as futurism began in 1909 and persisted until the early 1920s. Future-oriented thinking, as well as an interest in technology, business, and speed, characterised this time period. The utilisation of the human form in art, which was frequently shown in motion or in connection to the industrial landscape, was one of the main components of futurism. In order to create a sense of movement and speed, futurist painters frequently presented fragmented or deformed human forms. Their goal was to represent the energy and vitality of modern living. In order to convey a sense of urgency and excitement, they also experimented with colour, employing strong, contrasting tones. Futurist artists were concerned about how technology will affect human civilisation, and their work contributed to pave the way for the development of new styles and techniques in modern art.
