Korean War (jun 25, 1950 – jul 27, 1953)
Description:
The Korean War started when the Soviet backed North Korea crossed the 38th parallel and invaded the pro-western republic of South Korea. This was the first military action of the Cold War. America entered a month later on South Korea's behalf in a fight that they felt was against the spread of communism. There were a lot of casualties and not much gain from either side. Eventually the war ended in 1953 and Korea is still divided today.
