Loving v Viriginia (apr 10, 1967 – jun 12, 1967)
Description:
This was a landmark Supreme Court case that made it illegal to prohibit interracial marriage. It was brought to the Court by Mildred Loving, who was a black woman, and her husband Richard Loving. They had been sentenced to a year in prison because they got married and the Supreme Court deemed this unconstitutional. This was then followed by an increase in interracial marriages in the US.
