Neutrality Acts of the 1930s (jan 1, 1935 – may 1, 1939)

Description:

The Neutrality Acts were a series of laws passed by the United States Congress in the 1930s with the aim of maintaining neutrality in the face of escalating conflicts abroad. The first Neutrality Act was passed in 1935, followed by additional acts in 1936 and 1937.

The Neutrality Acts prohibited American citizens from selling or transporting arms or munitions to belligerent nations during times of war. They also prohibited U.S. citizens from traveling on ships belonging to belligerent nations. The acts were largely a response to the devastation of World War I and the desire to avoid being drawn into another costly and deadly conflict.
