Boston Massacre/Boston Tea Party (jan 11, 1770 – jan 11, 1773)
Description:
Both the Stamp Act and the Townshend Acts were abolished, but the duties on tea remained to support the British East India Company. During an open protest in the streets of Boston, a group of British soldiers misunderstood their orders and fired on the protesters killing many. Later in 1773, during an organized protest in Boston, 116 people dressed as Mohawks and boarded British ships docked in Boston. They proceeded to throw all the tea stored on the ships overboard in an act of protest.
