Joash/ Jehoash (mar 20, 835 BC – dec 11, 795 BC)
Description:
Joash did what was pleasing in the eyes of the Lord under the guidance of his uncle Jehoiada. He rebuilt the temple of the Lord, destroyed the images of Baal, and killed the prophets of Baal. After Joash's uncle died Joash soon became faithless without Jehoiada guidance. He made alliances with evil nations and made cult worship a thing in Judah. He even gave Syria money from the temple as bribery to keep them from attacking. Finally God sends Zechariah to set Joash straight. Joash plotted against Zachariah and stoned him. Then Syria comes with a small army and attacks Joash, they win. Joash dies in battle and is buried with the common people, not his fathers.
2 kings 12: 2
Joash did what was right in the eyes of the Lord all the years Jehoiada the priest instructed him. 3 The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.
