Dr. Lori Arviso Alvord was the first Navajo woman to receive board certification in surgery.
To treat the whole patient, she bridges two worlds of medicine: traditional Navajo healing and conventional Western medicine. She provides culturally competent care to her patients in order to restore balance in their lives and hasten their recovery.
