Freedom Summer (jun 1, 1964 – jun 30, 1964)

Description:

700 students, both black and white, came to Mississippi to help black citizens register to vote. It was organized by CORE and SNCC and they hoped to draw the attention of the nation to the miserable standard of living that black suffered in Mississippi. This is also known as the Mississippi Summer Project.
