Description:
Black people wanted to test new Interstate Commerce Commission regulations and court orders banning segregation in interstate transportation and establish whether facilities at bus terminals on the way were integrated or segregated. Therefore the freedom riders decided to protest on a bus that left Washington DC. They were attacked with violence in Alabama.Added to timeline:
