Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī, or al-Khwarizmi (jan 1, 780 – jan 1, 850)
Description:
Persian mathematician and astronomer who lived in the Islamic Golden Age. Al-Khwarizmi is known for his contributions to algebra and for his development of the decimal system of arithmetic. One of his most famous works is the "Kitab al-Jabr wa'l-Muqabala," which introduced the concept of algebra and provided methods for solving linear and quadratic equations. He also developed the algorithms for solving systems of linear equations that are known as Gaussian elimination and Jordan elimination.
