Description:
French philosopher and mathematician who is known for his contributions to analytic geometry and for his famous phrase "I think, therefore I am." Descartes developed the Cartesian coordinate system, which is used to represent points and shapes in two and three dimensions using a pair or triple of numerical coordinates.
