Atahualpa imprisioned by the Spanish (nov 14, 1532 – jul 26, 1533)

Description:

Pizarro told Atahualpa that if he gave the Spanish a roomful of gold and two roomfuls of silver, then he would be allowed to go.

Over the course of eight months, Atahualpa slowly filled the rooms with riches. In addition to this, he had Huáscar (who he had captured) killed because he was afraid that he would offer the Spanish more riches than he was offering for his life. This ended the civil war, although Atahualpa wasn't as powerful as he had hoped to be, due to the arrival of the Spanish.
