Description:

-Germany’s last big-scale offensive attack on the Western Front (Germany from Axis against France from Allied Powers)
-Took place between Luxembourg and Belgium, through the Ardennes Forest

+to prevent Allies from using Belgian port
of Antwerp
+to split the Allied lines and enable
Wehrmacht to encircle and capture
more land
+to push Allied forces into a peace treaty
in their favor
-Weapons: Germans used semi-automatic rifles and assault guns while the Allies used rifles, carbines, submachine guns and pistols
-Occurred in terrible weather, which the Germans used to their advantage (Allied aircrafts were forced to land and their aerial reconnaissance was deemed unusable)
-Fierce American resistance enabled Allied victory
-Impacts: Was temporarily successful in halting the Allied advance but weakened the German power, causing it to be the last large offensive of Germany
Casualties: Allied: 75,000, Germans: 80,000 to 100,000.
