Korean War (oct 12, 1950 – sep 25, 1953)
Description:
Because the leader of southern Korea could not agree to have a Korean election, as he knew that he would lose, communist North Korea and noncommunist South Korea emerged in 1948, with North Korea invading South Korea in 1950. With the help of the US, it was looking up for South Korea, pushing the army forces out, until the People's Republic of China entered the war. The US did not want to invade China for fear that their ally, the Soviet Union, would fight too in response. This eventually led to a truce, but no peace treaty was drawn, allowing a fear of war to linger, even to the present.
