Greensboro Sit-Ins (feb 1, 1960 – jul 25, 1960)
Description:
These sit-ins began when African American students staged a sit in at a segregated lunch counter in North Carolina. This movement spread quickly throughout Southern towns. Despite the many arrests, the protestors' actions made an immediate and long lasting impact. This forced bars and other businesses to change their policies on segregation.
