King Uzziah/Azariah's reign (jan 1, 791 BC – jan 1, 740 BC)
Description:
Uzziah was the son of Amaziah. He reigned for 52 years.
Uzziah did good because he set himself to seek God. But because of all the success he had in battles, he got proud. He tried to burn incense on the altar himself instead of having the priests do it.
"And he [Uzziah] did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, according to all that his father Amaziah had done." (2 Chronicles 26:4)
"But when he was strong, he grew proud, to his destruction. For he was unfaithful to the Lord his God and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense." (2 Chronicles 26:16)
a. Uzziah reigned with his father from the age of sixteen because his father was trying to avoid assassination. He reigned with his son because after he burned incense in the temple, God gave him leprosy so he lived the rest of his life separate from everyone.
