King Jehoshaphat's reign (jan 1, 871 BC – jan 1, 849 BC)

Description:

Jehoshaphat was Asa's son. He reigned for 25 years.
He was good because he got rid of all the idol stuff and strengthened Judah against Israel. As a result, he got riches and honor.
"The Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the earlier ways of his father David. He did not seek the Baals, but sought the God of his father and walked in his commandments, and not according to the practices of Israel. Therefore the Lord established the kingdom in his hand. And all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had great riches and honor. His heart was courageous in the ways of the Lord. And furthermore, he took the high places and the Asherim out of Judah." (2 Chronicles 17:3-6)
a. In the beginning of Jehoshaphat's reign, "the fear of the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms"* around Judah and nobody was at war with him for a while.
b. Jehoshaphat was repeatedly rebuked for his alliances because, instead of trusting in God and asking Him to help him, he trusted in the other kings' strength and made alliances with them.
* 2 Chronicles 17:10
