Freedom Rides (May 4 1961-December 10 1961) (may 4, 1961 – dec 10, 1961)
Description:
i. They wanted to peacefully test that segregation in public transportation, including buses, was unconstitutional.ii. They were met with violence. When the riders walked off the bus, people beat them with bats and harassed them.
iii. Where they went was in the deepest parts of the Jim Crow South.
