Who:
Muʿāwiyah I: Created the empire.
Abd al-Malik: Lead the empire at it's peak.
What:
Main religion was Muslim. It is known as the first great Muslim empire. Jews were allowed to be in the country, but they had to pay an extra tax.
Many civil wars were fought.
The Sufyānids and the Marwanids were parts of the royal family. Each part controlled a different branch of the empire.
The population was multiethnic and had many different cultures.
When: 661-750
Where: Middle East, Spain and North Africa.
Why: Why Spain and not any other European country?
The Witizans called for help and the Muslims have been invading many places.
End: They were defeated by the Byzantine Empire. And the Abbasid's took over and created The Abbasids Dynasty.
Timely Impact: Standardized measurements, currency, and language. Created a majority of Islam's important buildings.
Lasting Impact: Spread Islam and Arabic languages to other parts of the world. As well as spreading Islam its self.
